We are seeking to hire a Manager of Personal Property Taxes who will report to the Senior Manager of Domestic Indirect Tax. This position will support the Senior Manager in managing Personal Property Tax compliance, audit defense and tax appeals as well as advise on the tax implications of special projects.
Supervise the Personal Property Tax compliance outsourced engagement and related matters.
Manage U.S. Personal Property Tax return compliance, including partnering with the Fixed Assets team to pull and prepare data required for annual reporting purposes.
Review tax assessments and bills to remit payments and engage outsourced engagement team to prepare tax appeal applications.
Oversee U.S. Personal Property Tax audits and tax appeals.
Manage San Francisco Commercial Rent Tax compliance, tax accruals and payments.
Manage New York City Commercial Rent Tax compliance, tax accruals and payments.
Oversee New York City Commercial Rent Tax audits.
Maintain monthly accrual journal entries, GL reconciliations and tax reserves related to Personal Property and Commercial Rent Tax accounts.
Perform tax research/analysis for major business changes/initiatives as they arise, giving actionable recommendations and calculating appropriate reserves, if necessary.
Research, analyze and communicate proposed and enacted changes in Personal Property and Commercial Rent Tax laws and direct any tax matrices updates and/or tax system changes.
Maintain complete and up-to-date Personal Property and Commercial Rent Tax policies and procedures to optimize across department and business efficiencies.
Manage tax calendar for all US legal entities, including review of compliance where filing requirement has been triggered due to CIP, assets placed in service or sales activity.
Assist the Senior Manager, Indirect Taxes with special projects and tax planning initiatives.
Bachelor’s Degree Required
CPA or MST preferred but not required
5+ years of relevant experience in a corporate tax department, public accounting and /or law firm
Strong knowledge of local personal property tax laws and concepts
Audit experience with personal property tax is required
Strong computer knowledge (Excel); Alteryx experience is a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Self-motivator and able to work independently
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, challenging environment
Work effectively with outside service provider
